BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University men's soccer star defender Niklas Tasky has been named a Division II Conference Commissioner's Association First Team All-South Region selection, as announced on Thursday. He is now eligible for D2CAA All-America recognition.
Under the senior back's guidance, the Fighting Knights have proved to be one of the top defensive teams in the nation, allowing 0.88 goals per game. Additionally, Tasky has added two goals and two assists for six points.
The 6-foot-4, Hannover, Germany, product becomes the eighth player in program history to be a three-time All-South Region honoree and the sixth to be a three-time First Team selection (Jason Sangha, Lee Porter, Nano Short, Gareth Dunn and Darren Warham).
Fifteen players from the Sunshine State Conference received D2CCA All-South recognition, including nine First Team honorees, compared to 11 Gulf South Conference student-athletes earning accolades. Barry's Flavio Colasanti was also named the South Region Player of the Year.
The Blue and White play Barry in the NCAA Division II South Region Championship on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. ET in Young Harris, Ga. The winner moves on to face the victor of Young Harris/Lander in the national quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. Fans can watch the action live at LynnFightingKnights.com.
