BOCA RATON, Fla. – With the first date of competition a mere 24 days away, Lynn University's department of athletics announced schedules for the 2017 season for men's & women's soccer, volleyball and cross country. The 2017-18 athletic season looks to be impressive for the Fighting Knights, with the South Florida Showdown taking center stage.

Lynn's nationally-ranked men's soccer program kicks-off the season on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. at Bobby Campbell Stadium against Boca Raton rival Florida Atlantic in the opening match of the South Florida Showdown. The men's soccer program will play host to six matches throughout the year, with Rollins, Palm Beach Atlantic, Saint Leo, Tampa and Nova Southeastern just some of the teams slated to play on the Blue and White's home field.
Women's soccer warms up with an exhibition against Keiser on Tuesday, Aug. 29 and then starts their season on Friday, Sep. 1, against nationally-ranked West Florida, one of three top-25 teams they will square-off against in 2017. New Sunshine State Conference member Embry-Riddle and long-time adversary Barry will be among the eight home games planned for the women's soccer team.
Lynn's volleyball team broke a five-year hiatus from NCAA Tournament competition in 2016 and looks to continue their ascent in 2017. Success will come away from the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural center as the Fighting Knights play 19 games on the road. The volleyball team opens competition on Friday, Sep. 1, against Missouri S&T at the Embry-Riddle Tournament and hosts Nova Southeastern in their home-opener on Friday, Sep. 15.
Lastly, the Fighting Knight cross country team takes on an ambitious schedule of six meets. The youthful squad is off and running in the season-opener on Friday, Sep. 1, at the FAU Invitational, the first of two events at the South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, which also includes the SSC Championship.
The South Florida Showdown is a nine-game series pitting the NCAA Division II Fighting Knights against six NCAA Division I foes throughout the 2017-18 season.
